Letter from Auxiliary President:

Greetings! from the north central section of our lovely state. I hope this issue finds everyone happy and healthy. My name is Cindy Sahli and I am the 2009 President of the South Dakota Peace Office's Auxiliary. My husband Bruce is the 2009 President of the Association. We live in Roscoe, SD and have three children but usually only the youngest is still at home. I work at Northern State University in the Residence Life/Multi Cultural/Student Activities office where I have the secretary. My husband owns his own taxidermy studio, Prairie Wind Creations, and also is trying his hand at coaching high school football and basketball.

This years convention was another success. The training was excellent and I had a hard time pulling myself away from it so I could get to our meetings on time. As always, it was great to see all our friends, most of which we only see at this convention, as well as meeting so many new friends. They sure know how to be great hosts in Chamberlain/Owacoma area.  This year we held both our meetings at Al's Oasis. There is a little something for everyone at Al's. What a fine establishment. If you get the chance, you should stop off for a piece of pie, if they haven't run out already! We had a small turnout for the Auxiliary meetings this year but we gained a number of new members so hopefully, next year, our meeting will be well attended. Though our numbers were small we still had a great time. The moose and the elk will surely miss us. Our 1st Vice, Laurie Solem, had a conflict this year and could not make it to our convention but promises to be there for us in Huron next fall! We missed you Laurie. Marg Gallop is our new 2nd Vice. Marg has been a member of the Auxiliary for many years and will bring a wealth of knowledge to our board. Welcome aboard!

We had a good response with our Theme Baskets for our Silent Auction. I wish I had as much imagination as some of our members. A big thank you goes out to Cindy Gross for bringing her bookmarks and keys chains, and donating the proceeds, as well as the beautifully decorated cookies. Some were too pretty to eat!

Once again, we will be offering a free year of membership to spouses of new graduates of the Academy. Hopefully this will bring in some new faces.

I hope to keep up with the news letter so if you have anything you would like me to add to it, feel free to send it to me, along with any other ideas or suggestions, questions, etc. at bcssz@abe.midco.net.

Next years convention will be in the wonderful city of Huron. We always have such a great time there. Good Service, Great Hospitality, Awesome Friends. I hope to see you all there!

Until then:

Cindy
