     By accepting this invitation to join the South Dakota Peace Officers' Association that exists to assist you in training, fellowship, support, and other intangibles that are measurable only by you.  Benefits that you receive from any organization are proportional to what you as an individuals put into it.  The potential for SDPOA lies in you and your companion enforcement officers across the state.

     SDPOA is a vehicle that allows you to affect your future as a law enforcement officer.  Many of us belong to other professional organizations such as the SD Sheriffs' Assn., SD Highway Patrol Assn., SD Chiefs' Assn., SD Conservation Officers' Assn., and Fraternal Order of Police.  These associations are an integral part of our lives, and should be.  They fill the unique needs for individual officers and provide an outlet for officers to work at improving conditions for themselves and the public.  They also provide a social atmosphere that allows us to renew relationships with other officers in the same vocation statewide.  They provide a tool that allows us to work toward goals that often benefit our community and those less fortunate.

     These activities in turn reflect positively on our organizations, but more importantly, they just make us feel darn good once in a while.

     The South Dakota Peace Officers' Association can not and will not interfere with these other professional Law Enforcement Associations.  What the SDPOA does is carry these relationships one step farther.  SDPOA offers a unique opportunity to develop personal and professional relationships that benefit us all!  You make personal contacts statewide from many different law enforcement agencies that can assist you when you have a need.  The bonus is that you will get to know many of these contacts as FRIENDS!

     The South Dakota Peace Officers' Association is a statewide organization that provides a unified forum for all enforcement officers.  It can provide support for officers, agencies, and associations in endeavors that will benefit law enforcement.  It can provide a means for all officers to express support or concern on topics that effect everyone.

     This unified support can be critical when, for example, a legislator tries to make assaulting a law enforcement officer a Class One Misdemeanor.  It may be benefits, retirement, training, or many other topics that you have a concern about.

     SDPOA, comprising of and representing ALL South Dakota Law Enforcement Officers, can and will have a strong voice on things that affect us all.  Together we can make a difference.  LET'S DO IT!  Accept this invitation and join your team.
