OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. COMPETITION QUALIFICATION:
|

|
Competitor must be paid up member of the South
DakotaPeace Officers’ Association. Revised 2008..moved to 12 section 9
Auxiliary Matches…or Auxiliary, and/or spouse, and/or child under of
age of 21 of member. |
|

|
Competitor must have paid registration fee for the current seminar. |
|

|
Competitor must have paid pistol match registration
fee. |
2. COURSE OF FIRE:
|

|
Yard Line: Six rounds in 25 seconds unsupported, starting
with the weapon holstered. |
|

|
Yard Line: Twelve rounds in 60 seconds. Six rounds kneeling
unsupported, six rounds standing supported, starting with weapon
holstered. |
|

|
All Revolver shooting to be done double action. |
|

|
All shooters will reload with six rounds from the 25 yard line,
regardless of magazine capacity. |
3. TARGETS:
|

|
NRA B-27 Silhouette. To be furnished by the Association. |
4. AMMUNITION:
|

|
Association will furnish .38 cal., .40 cal., .45 cal., 9MM, 10MM, and
.22 cal. ammunition. |
|
 |
Competitors must use ammunition furnished by the Association. |
|
 |
Defective or miss-fire ammunition will be replaced by the Association on
the firing line. |
5. WEAPONS:
|

|
Association Members: Semi-Automatic or revolvers capable of
firing .38, .40, .45, 9MM or 10 MM ammunition
Auxiliary Members: Automatics or revolvers capable of firing .22 rim fire ammunition. |
|

|
Barrel length shall be six inches or less. |
|

|
Open sights, fixed or adjustable. |
6. CLASSIFICATION:
|

|
Competitor Classification will be maintained by the Board of
Directors or their Designee. |
|
 |
Competitor Classification will be determined by the most recent recorded
score fired at a South Dakota Peace Officer Seminar. |
|
 |
A competitor will be considered unclassified if records show no
match has been fired five consecutive years immediately
preceding the current. |
|
 |
Classification will be as follows: |

 |
Master 100 to 90 percent |
| |
|
 |
Expert 89.99 to 80 percent |
| |
|
 |
Sharpshooter 79.99 to 65 percent |
| |
|
 |
Marksman 64.99 percent & under |
| |
|
 |
Unclassified Shooters who have never fired, or in
accordance with Section 6.3. |
7. SCORING:
|

|
Scoring will be done by the Pistol Shoot Committee or a group
appointed by the Board of Directors of the South Dakota Peace
Officers Association. |
|

|
All scoring will be done in accordance with NRA Scoring rules. |
8. TIES:
|

|
If a tie cannot be broken by the methods outlined in section 7.2,
a re-fire match may be scheduled for those concerned. |
9. AWARDS:
|

|
First, second and third place awards will be made in each class,
providing there are sufficient shooters for three places. |
|

|
Types of Awards will be determined by the current Board of
Directors of the South Dakota Peace Officers’ Association. |
|

|
A Traveling Trophy will be given to any two-man team with the
highest aggregate score. Teams must be declared prior to the
match. Team members do not have to be from the same department or agency. |
|

|
The team will permanently retain the Traveling Trophy upon winning the
award for three consecutive years. |
10. RANGE SAFETY:
|

|
The safety of competitors and range personnel will conform with
NRA Rules. |
11. DISCIPLINE:
|

|
Non-compliance with NRA Safety rules shall disqualify any
shooter and his/her score. |
|

|
Non-shooters will not be allowed closer than the 50 yard line,
unless they are a coach. |
12. AUXILIARY MATCHES:
|

|
(Revised 2008) Auxiliary members must be paid up
members of Auxiliary and/or spouse, and/or child under age of 21 of
member. Auxiliary members shall shoot with the same
classification rules and regulations as the Peace Officer Association. |
|

Coaches are allowed for auxiliary members. |
|
 |
Targets used will be a 25 yard bulls eye, to be furnished by the
Association. |
|
 |
Course of fire will be 10 rounds in 5 minutes unsupported, one
or two handed, from the 25 yards line. |
|
 |
A traveling trophy will be given to any to members of the
Auxiliary with the highest aggregate score. Teams must declare
prior to the match. A team will permanently retain the traveling
trophy upon winning the award three consecutive years. Team members do not
have to be from the same department or agency. |
13. OVER 50 MATCHES: (Revised 2000)
|

Association members over the age of 50 may chose to fire the
over fifty match, rather than the conventional seminar match
classification. |
|
 |
Association members that shoot the over fifty match are not
eligible to shoot the conventional seminar match. |
|
 |
Course of fire will be ten rounds in 5 minutes from the 25 yard
line, one or two hand unsupported. |
|
 |
Target used will be a 25 yard bulls eye target to be furnished
by the Association. |
|
 |
Weapons will conform to Section 5.1. |
|
 |
Awards will be given to the three highest shooters. |
|
 |
A traveling trophy will be awarded to the 2-member team that
fires the highest aggregate score. A team will permanently
retain the traveling trophy upon winning the award three
consecutive years. Teams must declare before the match. Teams
do not have to be from the same department or agency. |
